The lake district photography
The Lake District’s proximity to the western coast of England tends to be the main contributing factor to the weather that the region gets on a typical basis. It’s not uncommon for low pressure systems to come in off the Atlantic, and with them bringing grey murky skies, persistent rain and relentless winds. This frequently happens all throughout the four seasons and often it’s said that winter brings cold rain, and summer brings warm rain. Afterall, it’s called The Lake District for a reason; lots of water!
I’m aware that I’m painting a rather bleak picture here. However, in between these weather systems can come great photographic opportunities. Moments where fleeting light breaks through the dark imposing clouds; shining a light on a dark foreboding landscape. It’s common for these moments to be very brief and short-lived, prompting a well-versed landscape photographer to purposefully place themselves in the right place at the right time, praying that the weather gods will provide. Sometimes a successful landscape photograph is the result of good luck, but in most cases there’s a great deal of intentional execution and extensive location knowledge that all contribute to this success. I believe that one of the greatest skills a landscape photographer can have is knowing where to stand.
I invite you to view this collection of some of my favourite photographs taken in the conditions mentioned above. Contained within are over a decade's worth of personal cherished moments spent out in the breathtaking landscape of The Lake District. For the most immersive experience, I highly recommend viewing these photographs on desktop monitors or tablets, so that you can better see the details which are harder to appreciate on a smaller hand-held device.
All these photographs are available to purchase as prints and ready to hang frames and canvas. You will be able to find a link at the bottom of each image description (once clicked for expanded view), which will take you to the relevant print listing.
