Ambleside, Langdale & Coniston
lake district location guide
The Ambleside, Langdale & Coniston areas reside in the Southern district of the Lake District National Park with some stunning areas of photographic interest. Ambleside is a half an hour drive along the A591 from Junction 36 or a very scenic 40 minute drive along the A591 from the opposite direction if you're coming from the North. The Langdale Valley can be approached via the A593 with a few different options depending on the locations you are visiting and Coniston is located further along the A593. Areas around Ambleside and Coniston are usually accessible all year round due to the main roads being on high priority for gritting whereas the Langdale Valley can be a little trickier in the Winter months, however a few alternative routes with a little extra walking distance can get you to those beautiful, well worth shooting, snowy scenes.
